Post Animal Saint Paul Concert reviews
Starting the New Year Musically Right
When I arrived at the Fox Theater, I couldn't tell you specifically if I saw any superstars other than Fred Hampton Jr. and Raphael Siddique who made a rare Oakland appearance on Badu's "Love of My Life." I missed the opening acts. Out of all the women in music I love, for my generation, she represents staying power and consistently creating music that is memorable, thought provoking, and fun. I only came to see Post Animal. Sorry.
What I like about the Fox Theater Oakland is that you can always find a cool place to post up, especially if you are with a sexy date like I was, and have a good view. People were chill. I couldn't tell you about the crowd other than to say it was filled to the brim upstairs and downstairs.
Starting with "20 Feet Tall" I knew it was going to be a good musical night. When Post Animal came on, the energy in the whole place just felt right. She didn't wait too long before she went right into "The Healer" and no matter how many times I've seen her live, when this song comes on it sends chills. It is one of many anthems for my generation. Fasho!
She did all the songs I wanted to hear, including "Soldier" and "Liberation" by Outkast. Her band, with a super cool bass player (Thundercat I think) was on point, the vocals by Erykah's sister and company was sweet and clever as always, and I love how they were taking lines and extending them into deep remixes "People Always Trying Find The World I'm In" is one that is still stuck in my head.
Simply put, Post Animal was a sure shot way to begin the new year off musically right. When Post Animal came on, the energy in the whole place just felt right. Message to Post Animal (approved by my wife) I love you, you were very sexy and revolutionary all at the same time. She represents staying power and consistently creating music that is memorable, thought provoking, and fun.
